David Booth from Acoustic act Aloneme chats about the bands first full length, national album release, his views on the music scene, and his hopes for the bands future.

After many years of hard work, and several additions to their line-up Aloneme have grown in to an outstanding, and versatile live act. Working hard they have now secured a national ablum released for their acoustic/pop album Sketch!

Suite101: If you were drawing a sketch to represent your career as Aloneme thus far, what would it look like?

Booth: "The four members of AloneMe just reaching Everest base camp, on the way up."

Suite101: What do you like the most about the musical genre you work in?

Booth: "Well, if the genre is acoustic/pop/rock, then the 'pop' bit has to be good, i.e. popular."

Suite101: You've joined forces with other Essex acts Adorno Stone and Darwyn to promote mainstream Essex music, can we expect more from this project, and what else would you like to see to promote mainstream music?

Booth: "Yes we'd love to do more with Adorno Stone & Darwyn, just a case of organising diaries."

Suite101: If one of your songs could be licensed for anything, what would it be?

Booth: "'Do Not Disturb' for the next Travelodge TV campaign perhaps (we use them a lot!)?"

Suite101: You seem to have played gigs of many different shapes and sizes, do you enjoy them all the same?

Booth: "Yeah, it keeps things interesting, and also shows us whether the songs work well (or not) in any setting. When they do, it's usually a good sign that we've got a good song."

Suite101: What are your hopes for the future of Aloneme?

Booth: "Continual growth... reaching more people, playing bigger shows but keeping our feet firmly on the ground."

Suite101: If you could sneak a copy of your album on to anybodies record player who would it be?

Booth: "Richard Branson"

8. You have a make your own monopoly board in front of you, what music related things/groups/venues etc would you put on it?

Booth: "High Barn Venue in the red or perhaps green properties, St Annes Castle at the cheaper but very popular end - perhaps orange, Royal Albert Hall purple ... something to aspire to... and instead of 'go to jail', what about 'go to a really boring 9 to 5 day job' just to remind ourselves that we are lucky to be doing what we're doing and to never moan about how 'hard' the music industry is."

Suite101: What's been the best description you've heard someone else give of Aloneme?

Booth: "How about a combination of "bittersweet acoustic pop...they make it seem easy" from the Kilkenny People, plus "an intoxicating cocktail of cutting lyrics, sweet harmonies and classic pop hooks" from the Herts & Essex Observer and finally "Yr gig was top. Quality songwriting and great harmonies!" from our recent Myspace comments. Can we do that please?"

Sketch the first full length album from Aloneme available via record stores and online retailers.
