Dancepunk/synthpop trio Friendly Fires continue to storm to success, nominated for this year's Mercury Music Prize.

The Friendly Fires album is currently on re-release, including the new single, Kiss of Life. The first incarnation of the band started at 14 at school in St Albans but didn't morph into its current state until after university. They released three EPs prior to their album, 'Photobooth' in 2006, 'Cross the Line' and a remix EP in 2007. 'On Board' was the first single from their album to be released in 2007.

Friendly Fires have been touring extensively since their album was released in September 2008 and the Friendly Fires live are definitely not to be missed.

'Friendly Fires' Album

The Friendly Fires single ‘Paris’ was nominated Single of the Week by the Guardian newspaper and NME music magazine. Single ‘On Board’ has been featured in Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3 adverts in the States, ‘White Diamonds’ has been featured in the TV series Gossip Girl and ‘Jump in the Pool’ has become the theme song to BBC1’s Final Score football.

The album has gone gold, and stayed at number 37 in the album chart until the Mercury nomination pushed it up one spot to 36. The band were nominated for many awards, including Best Breakthrough Award, Best Dancefloor Filler at the NME Awards, as well as billing second on the NME Awards Tour.

The tracks fairly suck you in and defy you not to dance, infectious doesn't begin to describe their irrestistibility.

Friendly Fires Live: Friendly Fires Tickets and Tour Dates

Friendly Fires concerts are bursting with energy, the boys give it everything they’ve got and then some, inciting the crowd to imitate. Even the most hardened groove-resister would find it hard not to at least toe tap. Singer Ed McFarlane literally doesn’t stop dancing, and this is no subdued shuffle we’re talking, it’s a full-on-get-down-and-dirty boogie. Despite this exertion, the vocals never waver nor do guitarist Ed Gibson, drummer Jack Savage or live bass section Rob Lee miss a trick.

Friendly Fires tickets are available through seetickets and ticketweb amongst others.
