Beginning in July, 2009, Michael Jackson will perform what's being called his final tour. And tickets are still available!!

The world has known him since he was a child-star and the lead singer of the Jackson 5, dancing alongside his famous brothers and belting out such hits as “I’ll Be There” and “ABC.”

Over the next three decades, Michael Jackson would shock and awe fans with an arsenal of revolutionary albums (such as Thriller, Bad, and Invincible) and an onslaught of cool dance moves (including the robot and the moonwalk) that started us dancing along with MTV and virtually shaped the lives of the MTV-generation.

Now 50, Michael Jackson has announced that he will perform his next—and “final”—tour this year in London. Beginning in July, Jackson will kick off his “This is It” tour, performing a total of 50 concerts at the O2 Arena in south London until February 2010.

Despite the announcement of "This is It" as the final tour of Jackson's career, some fans and media outlets have speculated that the concert could, in fact, be just the beginning of a full world-tour.

Ticket Sales via Ticketmaster and at the O2 Arena

With legions of fans around the world, this 13-time Grammy-winning performer has sold over 750 million albums to date. It’s no wonder then that this year’s concert tickets are selling in a blink of the London eye.

In addition to the 360,000 advanced-sale tickets that were issued earlier this year, another 500,000 general tickets went on sale through Ticketmaster on March 13 at London's O2 Arena. All of these tickets, reported to have ranged from anywhere between $70 to over $100, sold out within hours of becoming available.

Tickets Still Available for Michael Jackson's London 2009 Tour

Yet according to Jackson’s official website, www.michaeljackson.com, fans can still purchase tickets for the “This is It” tour, either by accessing Jackson’s website or by visiting www.viagogo.co.uk.

Michael Jackson's Recent Releases

Although Jackson has not released a full album of new material since 2001, a box set of some of his biggest video and vocal hits, called Visionary, was released in the U.S. in November 2006. The set contains a DualDisc format, which offers both video DVDs and audio CDs.

Later, in early 2008, Jackson released Thriller 25, which celebrated the quarter-century anniversary of his Thriller album.

Information on both releases can be found via Jackson’s official website.

From the World Music Awards to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Over the course of his career, Michael Jackson has received numerous honors, among them: the Most Successful Entertainer of All Time (Guinness World Records), the Artist of the Millennium (World Music Awards), and the Artist of the Century (American Music Awards). He has also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice—once as a member of the Jackson 5 and then again as a solo artist.
