From the first youtube she created, Renea's popularity has only risen.
Priscilla Renea is a talented singer who started her road to fame on YouTube. Her first video, called "The Dictionary (A Priscilla Renea Original ...lol)," is her second most viewed video to date, with over 900 thousand hits. In that video, she sings as much of the a-section of the dictionary as she can get through to the tune "Glamorous" by Fergie. Priscilla Renea's First VideosOne of Renea's many talents, besides singing, song-writing, and playing the piano, is playing the guitar, even with long nails. She has posted 22 videos since the popular dictionary video posted 2 years ago, and several of those videos show her playing her guitar with a song she either wrote or is covering. "Touch My Body," "Hello My Apple," and "22" are three of the songs that appear acoustically on YouTube. She also covers "New Soul" by Yael Naim and "Thinking of You" by Katy Perry. Her blend is warm and reflective, with the soft fragmented sound of the guitar strings sealed by fluid vocal runs. The lyrical simplicity and straightforwardness of "22" is especially effective, allowing the listener to feel the powerful reverberations of emotions that words don't do justice to. Renea's Journey toward FameAs Renea rises in fame, her sound goes from the soulful acoustic of her independently made YouTube videos to the snappy pop of the recording industry. While her fans want the best for as a musician, the unique style she produced early on will never be forgotten or stop getting hits. After all, one of the main inspirations for her song writing was that there "wasn't anything on the radio that [she] wanted to hear." Renea has a colorful, eclectic fashion sense to go with her high-energy emerging album, Jukebox, which is expected to hit stores in October. She claims to rely on the help of her fans to visit her MySpace page, comment on her videos, and post her videos on their own MySpace pages. She has a very social, warm online personality, and frequently comments back to her fans. Her first EP, "Hello My Apple," came out in March, and her hit single, "Dollhouse," is available on iTunes for fans too impatient to wait until October. Whether or not she will continue to write music for the guitar remains to be seen, but several MySpace photos of her holding a guitar suggest that pop might not be the only thing on her mind. Priscilla Renea has many fans to thank for her publicity, as well as YouTube and MySpace. And for her talent, she can thank herself.
